Africa
Mt. Kilimanjaro
Elevation: 19,340 feet / 5895 meters
Optimal months to Climb: June through March are good months to avoid major rain

Number of Days to Climb: 6

Risks and Conditions: Definitely prepare for rain on Kilimanjaro. Rain is not a concern on some high altitude mountains, as it only snows, but this is not the case with Kilimanjaro, as it is near the equator. Mountain Sickness is also a concern, as most routes gain a lot of elevation fast. The Park Service requires climbers use one of their approved guiding companies.
Summary: Kilimanjaro is one of the most popular “7 Summits”, especially among single women. Even if you do not summit, it is an unforgettable trip just to be on the mountain, traveling through the different vegetation zones. You must go on a safari while in Tanzania.

Qualifications: You need to train and, if possible, spend some time at local high altitude to acclimate the body.
